A bit about me
Originally from the beautiful Caribbean island Curaçao, I’ve lived, studied and worked in Canada, the US, and the Netherlands. With an academic background in statistics and artificial intelligence, and extensive experience working on applied machine learning at tech startups, as well as deep learning research, I am constantly intrigued by the world of data, with its many hidden patterns and the stories it allows us to tell. My passion lies in applying machine learning to challenges that will make the most impact globally and socially; whether it’s improving healthcare, tackling climate change, or revolutionizing finance.
Expertise
Deep learning
From creating an email classification model for a multinational bank and developing an auto-encoder model that can detect anomalies in real-time sensor data to achieving state-of-the-art results in a research project using self-supervised learning, I feel comfortable applying deep learning methods in both industry and academic settings.
Time-Series Data
Having worked with real-time sensor data from activity trackers and menstrual cycle data from period tracking apps, I have gained extensive experience working with complex, high-dimensional time-series data and applying machine learning models that deal with their many intricacies and challenges.
Data Visualization
Whether it’s using Python or d3.js to create interactive and appealing visuals, or building dashboards using Mode to share insights with larger audiences, I enjoy building beautiful data visualizations.
